Overview
The Project Manager will work in a fast-paced, solutions-oriented environment leading technical projects of substantial scope and complexity that demands a high level of cross functional integration. The Project Manager will facilitate strong partnerships between cross-functional teams, develop and track detailed schedules, and actively manage scope within the approved budget. You have a proven track record leading teams through a gated product development process resulting in successful launches into a production environment.
Position Responsibilities - Create and manage all project management documentation including scope, schedule, budget, communication plan, risk register, and status reports for each project
- Lead the cross functional team through the complete project lifecycle from initiation to closure
- Work with functional leads to secure resource demand and assignments
- Secure and prioritize resources on assigned projects
- Ensure coordination and linkage of schedules with other Project Managers
- Ensure projects are compliant with Westport WPDP processes and standards, while aligning to applicable and required development frameworks on the partner side
- Develop and maintain risk register and initiate proactive mitigation strategies as required
- Coordinate with all project streams, including engineering, project management, purchasing, supplier development, operations, customer service, and business development
- Ensure that relevant cost, schedule, and technical performance metrics are established at all levels in the project
- Issue bi-weekly status reports to project teams and stakeholders
- Monthly reporting to Management Review Group
Health & Safety responsibilities - Promote Westport's H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
- Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
- Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
Position Requirements - BS in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience preferred
- Understanding of APQP, IATF 16949 preferred
- 5+ years experience in an engineering environment, preferably in the automotive industry
- 3+ years experience in project management, PMI/PMP certification (or equivalent) an asset
- Experience developing products and launching into a production environment
- Have proactive planning capabilities along with creative, solutions-oriented approaches to problem solving.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to understand complex problems and summarize in a simple way to a wide audience
- Strong planning, organization and time management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, Project and Teams.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, flexible and with a high capacity to learn
Salary Range
This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $88,000 to $100,000. Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
