Most Progressive Printing Process, wide format inkjet
Winner - Arius Elegraph™ and Canon Canada Elevated Printing Collaboration
This award recognizes Arius and Canon's collaboration to create a scan-to-print process, which combines Arius' ultra-high-resolution art data capture technology, with Canon's innovative elevated printing technology. Through this special partnership, Arius recently installed a custom Canon Arizona flatbed printer, the first in North America, in its elevated-printing production facility in Richmond, B.C.
Capable of high-resolution printing with up to 5 mm of texture, the resulting scan-to-print process led to projects with the National Gallery of Canada and Tate, successfully replicating a number of historic works, including pieces by Van Gogh and Monet, printing brushwork elevations up to 5 mm high.
Partnering with world-class museums and galleries laid the foundation for Arius' contemporary offering, alta™ studio, which is designed for artists to explore the world of art digitization and elevated printing. Arius' team of Art Production Specialists work closely with artists to digitally create, and iterate on, new series of original Elegraph™ print editions.
For the Most Progressive Printing Process Awards, Arius and Canon submitted a printed sample from a special collaboration with STALE AMSTERDAM, which also won an award for Specialty Project in the printing category, and a nomination in the Top 5 for the Best of Show Award!

Specialty Project (Printing Category)
Winner - STALE AMSTERDAM and Elegraph™ Printmaking, Arius Technology Inc.
This award recognizes Arius' innovative application of elevated printing technology to a new audience of contemporary artists, including STALE AMSTERDAM. Whose original portraits are created with a unique dripping technique and often consist of more than 40 layers, using liters of acrylic paint. It is a complicated process and requires an intensive, sophisticated way of working because there is no room for corrections.
Working closely with alta™ studio, STALE AMSTERDAM is creating a series of original monoprints using Arius' Art Digital Master File (ADMF™) data and techniques to meld analog and digital creation. Due to be released in the next few weeks, this special collection of Elegraph prints represent a new body of work for STALE AMSTERDAM, who has never before been able to create textured prints that truly represent the intricate details of his original works.
Working together to offer STALE's signature artworks in an exciting new medium, this collaboration also represents a greater significance for the art world as a whole. Proven even more by this honourable recognition as the winner of the 2022 Specialty Project Award.
