The Role: Corporate Development Analyst

To support us in achieving our ambitious corporate objectives and rapidly scaling our business, we are seeking a highly motivated, versatile professional to play a critical role in supporting the growth and development of our company. As Corporate Development Analyst, you will be responsible for modelling and evaluating corporate transactions related to the strategic growth of the business, including financings, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships. In this role, you will work closely with the Corporate Development team and the company's senior leadership to identify and assess growth opportunities that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
As an internal investment banker, you will be Svante's go-to resource for financial analysis and modelling expertise, responsible for maintaining and continuously improving Svante's long-term corporate financial model, reviewing and analyzing relevant market and macroeconomic trends, developing economic analysis of customer-specific CO2 capture plant opportunities, and supporting internal business owners in the preparation of detailed ad hoc financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain corporate financial models to project future performance of the business and analyze the financial impact of potential strategic initiatives, including capital-raising initiatives, M&A transactions, joint ventures, and partnerships.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, including valuations, financial statement reviews, discounted cash flow analysis, and what-if scenario analysis.
- Develop and maintain project models to assess economics of specific carbon capture plant opportunities.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new business opportunities, industry trends, and potential targets for mergers and acquisitions.
- Assist in execution of capital markets initiatives, including potential equity and debt transactions.
- Assist with Finance Team initiatives on key finance, valuation and tax-related issues.
- Monitor and analyze ongoing business performance to identify potential areas for improvement or further growth opportunities.
- Support the due diligence process during assessment of potential transactions and strategic partnerships, including analyzing financial information, identifying key risks and opportunities, and conducting detailed discussions with potential counterparties.
- Support shareholder relations activities through the provision of information and analysis related to past and projected corporate performance.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including finance, legal, and operations to gather inputs to evaluate strategic initiatives.
- Support business leads with ad hoc analysis of historic data to drive departmental strategies, operational improvements, and organizational focus.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and other materials for senior leadership to communicate findings and recommendations.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or quantitative field such as Engineering. MBA or CFA designation is an asset.
- 2-4 years of experience in an intensive investment banking, private equity, or corporate development setting.
- Expert proficiency using Excel and the ability to build and audit complex financial models (you don't need to use a mouse).
- Ability to understand and link strategy to underlying financial drivers of the business and translate this into detailed financial analysis.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, this candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently to research, analyze, synthesize, and present complex qualitative and quantitative data.
- Demonstrated experience developing first-rate presentations and research materials meticulous attention to detail and pride in quality of work will be key success factors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing presentations and reports for senior leadership.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and establish effective relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, and corporate finance concepts.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365/Office Suite.
