Position:
We're on the hunt for a Engineering Student, Security in our Cyber Security Solutions Group at our Richmond office.
Overall the successful candidate would be treated similar to a new graduate joining our company, where tasks will be assigned relative to the level of schooling and experience achieved to date. This is a 4 or 8 month term Student opportunity starting in May 2023.
As a member of the Engineering team you will work on our programmes such as SAR Next, Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope, Aeronautical Navigation products, and Marine Insights products. Where you will work as part of a technical team to develop new capabilities, enhance existing capabilities and deliver solutions to our customers.
As our Engineering Student, Security you will work within the Engineering organization to support the definition of a secure systems delivery model for customers around the world. This includes supporting the creation of processes for developing and managing security requirements, analysis of tools and technologies for use in secure systems development and articulation of key technology trends regarding secure systems development. As part of a team, you will work with security subject matter experts who are working on the cutting edge of developing secure systems.
Specific tasks include the following:
Responsibilities:
- Developing security related artefacts supporting secure systems development;
- Investigation and analysis of security tools for use in the development, assessment and test of secure systems;
- Investigation and integration of tools and technologies to be incorporated into the MDA DevOps environments;
- Supporting the development of security documents (e.g. specifications, test plans, reports); and
- Working hands on in a lab and integration environment.
Requirements:
Enrolled a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or other relevant field focusing on information security. A keen interest in information security and a desire to learn more on how we need to build systems that can be trusted.
The qualifications below are a big plus, but not required:
- Experience working with information or human security concepts including tools such as Metasploit, Kali Linux, Snort, Wireshark;
- Experience with scripting languages in both/either Linux and Windows environments;
- Experience with cloud or distributed networking environments;
- Experience in application, user, network, mobile or cloud security;
- Experience with social media security concepts;
- Secure software development standards;
- Java, C/C++, Python, Ruby, and/or SQL Language(s); and
- Virtualization Technologies.
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
