General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by developing the first commercially viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emission grid.
Combining new technologies, proven industrial processes, and advances in fundamental fusion science, General Fusion aims to be the first in the world to develop commercial fusion power. Key performance requirements have been demonstrated at the system level, setting the stage for building a pre-commercial fusion power prototype.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer to join our Diagnostics and Controls team. In support of the Fusion Demonstration Plant development program and other key development test machines, the work will focus on the integration of sensors, actuators, and the associated DAQ and Controls. The ideal candidate has a strong background in implementing and maintaining solutions for controlling complex electro-mechancial systems with very high speed processes using distributed controls enacted through PLCs. This is a hands-on position that requires experience with real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with instrumentation engineers and controls engineers from the main subsystems to implement the total plant controls
- Maintain architectures and standards for distributed control and operator interfaces
- Manage overall state machine and P&ID by collaborating with the specialists for each subsystem.
- Collaborating with data engineers to ensure data can be archived and processed with quality, speed, and traceability
- Building systems for test and validation of controls
- Ensure high reliability and rapid return to service for system when a fault occurs
