Position Overview:
In project management, risk management is the practice of identifying, evaluating, and preventing or mitigating risks to a project that have the potential to impact the desired outcomes. This Project managers are typically responsible for overseeing the risk management process throughout the duration of a given project.
Reporting to Director, Program Management, the Manager, Risk management and Control is responsible for developing and maintaining General Fusions technical risk portfolios, dives deep into processes, structure risk mitigation plans, providing cost control, change management, forecast and report to support overall program management for technical risk reduction.
The successful individual for this role is passionate about problem-solving and demonstrates fast learning and data analytical skills to represent risk health metrics through decomposition and visual indicators. You are committed to achieving your goals and focus on "getting things done" and recognizing and taking advantage of opportunities as they arise. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization, you make meaningful contributions, build on trust and inclusion, and work to establish effective relationships both internally and externally. You can guide senior staff through in-depth knowledge of project management. The risk register and control are integral parts of the Project Team at General Fusion.
Key Responsibilities: - Document and analyze processes, gather requirements, perform best practice reviews, gather data to support, prioritize and align business case development and requests, and perform current state assessments and gap analysis on initiatives.
- Liaises with a broad spectrum of engineering, IT and business stakeholders and leaders to advise and define risk mitigation plans according to risk registers that meet the business requirements and project milestones.
- Work with technical leads and managers to understand process structures, policies, workflows, requirements. Coordinate and create risk burndown charts and report to program control.
- Be responsible for developing, maintaining and continuously improving all aspects of cost control, resource management/balancing, forecasting, change management.
- Be responsible for creating and following the standard, procedures, templates, and specifications.
- Manage commitments, actual project cost, resource allocations, provide input to engineering evaluation and estimates.
- Maintain the project changelog. Prepare or coordinate with project scheduler to prepare project budget schedule impacts to analyze potential PCNs (Project Change Notification).
- Support testing, development of implementation materials, and process definition and design.
- Translate technical issues and architectural complexities in a manner that assists project stakeholders in understanding issues more clearly.
- Work with project stakeholders to test and validate requirements and analysis models using various methods such as design and validation sessions, reviews, walkthroughs, etc.
Relevant Skills and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in related Engineering, System Engineering, Project Management field; post-graduate degree considered an asset
- 5+ years' recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Superior analytical skills, documentation, workflows, including the ability to comprehend, analyze and resolve complex issues
- Highly developed business/technical writing and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of project structures; business case development; documentation of workflows; analytical tools
- Skilled in handling change requests, impacts, and tracking tasks, actions, risks, issues, and impacts
- Good judgment and initiative, strong decision-making skills, and ability to adapt to change
- Advanced proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
