Ballard's Rapid Prototyping Team has an immediate opening for a Senior technician to operate 3D printers, laser, plotters, and other rapid prototyping machinery.
The successful candidate will work well independently and with engineering team members to ensure department goals and Ballard values are met.
Responsibilities include: - Get heavily involved in the fundamentals of rapid prototyping to ensure department, and internal customers deliverables are met
- Focus on internal documentation and request processes to meet internal customer needs
- Work with health and safety representative to ensure proper guidelines and work procedures are followed and implemented for the Rapid prototyping equipment (RPE)
- Participate in training activities to ensure the safe operation of RPE
- Manage RPE software version control and implement CI/CD testing/releasing methodology
- Review and download drawings and software into RPE
- Prepare technical documents, including component/system requirements and design documents, test plan/matrix and test report, and engage in the formal change management process
- Lead on technology innovation and continuous improvement in for the rapid prototyping center (RPC)
- Under the direction of the RPC Manager, work within cross-functional teams with the implementation of systems engineering processes, which may include cross-functional reviews of requirements and documenting specifications
- Other duties as occasionally required by management
Requirements: - Technical degree or Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial and manufacturing fields
- Programming skills and experience in software loading and downloading to equipment would be an asset
- Familiar with Ballard stack testing or stack manufacturing would be an asset
- Experience with configuration management processes and formal software version control. Work experience with Agile an asset.
- In-depth understanding of process flow would be an asset
- Experience in commissioning, tuning, and testing of Ballard equipment control systems
- Commitment to delivering high-quality products or work assignments
- Work experience with RPE such as Laser machines, 3D printers, milling machines, band saws, brakes, hydraulic benders, cutting equipment
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic instrumentation, including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
- Experience with power device interfaces (LV/HV batteries, motor drives, inverters, contactors, DC/DC converters, etc.)
- Experience with building prototype equipment or engineering builds
- Team player, self-motivated, have the habit of documenting and communicating promptly on what is done. Have a passion for machining and making things in new creative ways and systematically performing these things.
