There are a lot of different solutions such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc. NoSQL has become more popular among software engineers. In February we are going to focus on the transition from relational databases to a modern and more distributed stack.
Talk Synopsis
NoSQL is a term used to describe a class of databases that are designed to be distributed and scalable, and do not use the traditional SQL relational database model. NoSQL databases are often used to store very large datasets that can grow over time and can be accessed by multiple users concurrently. These databases are typically used in situations where the data is too large or complex to be stored in a traditional relational database, or when the data needs to be accessed in real-time, such as in online gaming or financial trading applications.
There can be a significant level of complexity involved in transitioning from a SQL database to a NoSQL database. The main factor that can contribute to this complexity is Data Model. NoSQL databases use a different data model than SQL databases, which means that the data needs to be restructured or reorganized in order to be stored in a NoSQL database. This can be a time-consuming and complex process, especially if the data is very large or has a lot of interdependencies.
Our speaker Grigorii is going to share the main learning and challenges for this complicated process of transitions.
Speaker Bio
Grigorii Morozov is a Senior Software Engineer with about 15 years in development mostly focusing on the backend and infrastructure. During this time Grigorii worked in several successful SaaS companies and startups in the news analysis and analytics fields. Today Grigorii is one of the main contributors to Diligent Analytics products that empower the world to fight fraud. Grigorii is a polyglot software engineer and always uses the most suitable programming language to solve a task in the most efficient way.
Outside of work, Grigorii is a FIDE master in chess and easily can play blindly with three opponents simultaneously. His high qualification is proven by winning three times Championship in British Columbia. Grigorii loves spending time outside hiking, backpacking, climbing, or snowboarding.
