VeloMetro Mobility Inc. was among six SFU startups to compete in a pitch competition to Chinese commercialization leaders and venture capitalists.
Burnaby, BC, May 5, 2017--(T-Net)--Six tech startups affiliated with SFU Innovates sparked considerable interest among Chinese investors and commercialization leaders during the Canada China Open Innovation Forum last month in Vancouver.
The event was hosted by SFU Innovates in partnership with Vancouver's China Canada Cleantech Innovation Centre (CCCIC).
SFU Innovates helps students and researchers mobilize their business ideas for positive social and economic impact.
CCCIC is a China-Canada high-tech accelerator that connects entrepreneurs and innovators with the experts and resources they need for venture growth in both countries.
During the forum, more than 30 Chinese investors and commercialization leaders explored how they might partner with B.C. tech startups working in cleantech, health sciences and information technology. Their goal: to help B.C. tech startups scale up and trail-blaze innovations that will help drive the next global economic boom in both countries.
In one forum event, CCCIC visitors joined local business experts on a panel to share their experiences of what it takes to be successful in China, and explored investor perspectives as well as innovation trends in technology.
Another event featured a pitch competition in which nine B.C. tech startups, six from SFU Innovates, showcased their ventures in a Dragon's Den-style competition before a panel of investors from Eagle Funds, a Chinese venture capital firm.
Meet four of the SFU tech startups exploring partnerships with Chinese venture capitalists to trailblaze innovations in their respective growth industries.
