North Vancouver, BC, February 9, 2017--(T-Net)--Enbala Power Networks and ABB announced that they recently demonstrated a new distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) development project at the DistribuTECH conference and exhibition held in San Diego, California.
Grid operators are required to manage new challenges and volatility as a result of an increasing amount of intermittent renewable energy sources being integrated into the grid.
The new DERMS solution being jointly developed by ABB and Enbala will enable utilities to manage the entire lifecycle of distributed energy resources from registration to optimization, control and settlements, while ensuring safe, secure and efficient operation of the electric distribution network.
It will combine key functionalities of ABB's Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) such as a single network model and a unified geospatial control center operator environment and Energy Portfolio Management solutions with Enbala Power Networks' distributed energy resource (DER) optimization and control platform, Symphony by EnbalaTM.
Enbala's Symphony distributed energy aggregation and control platform leverages electrical demand flexibility, energy storage, renewables and other distributed energy resources to keep grids in a state of balance and ensure reliability of power supplies.
Both companies reported that they are committed to working together to maximize synergies across their technologies to drive further innovation and operational integration, making wide scale use of distributed energy a reality.
