Vancouver, BC, September 20, 2007--(T-Net)--Sempa Power Systems is an inaugural winner of the Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award, a new award that salutes companies creating major breakthroughs in the field of green technology. The award comes as the 2007 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards Program celebrates its 10th anniversary as the pre-eminent technology awards program in Canada.
The Deloitte Technology Green 15 Awards recognize those Canadian companies that offer solutions to global environmental challenges by creating intellectual property (IP) and technology that reduce society’s environmental impact.
“The Deloitte Technology Green 15 awards were created because much of the popular focus on environmental solutions often rests on more visible manifestations like wind farms, solar farms and ethanol production facilities,” said John Ruffolo, National Leader, Technology, Media & Telecommunications Industry Group, Deloitte. “Honouring companies such as Sempa Power Systems is raising awareness of the innovative, powerful technologies invented here in Canada that work behind the scenes to enable the green applications we benefit from today.”
Over the last decade, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 program has tracked the successful growth of Canadian-grown global leaders such as Research in Motion (RIM), which has ranked among the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 every year since the program’s inception in 1997.
Sempa’s CEO Ron Dizy credits Sempa’s unique product offering, a compelling return on investment opportunity for its customers, and broader significant environmental benefit as key factors in the company’s ability to achieve early success in this segment. Sempa’s customers are realizing 10-30 per cent reductions in heating costs, while reducing their GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by 20-50 per cent – with zero impact to services available in the buildings.
“To be recognized as one of the top 15 innovative and economically viable green technology companies in Canada is truly an honour,” said Ron Dizy, Chief Executive Officer of Sempa Power Systems Ltd. “Sempa’s growth over the past five years is a testament to our commitment to provide our clients with an innovative one-of-a-kind system that will help them reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cut energy costs.”
“Companies such as Sempa are creating technology solutions that have both a significant environmental impact and demonstrate a compelling return on investment. In doing so, they are helping position Canada as a global leader in the development of commercially-viable green technology,” explained Ruffolo.
To qualify for a Deloitte Technology Green 15 Award, candidates must be headquartered in Canada and devote a significant portion of their operating revenues to creating proprietary technology and/or intellectual property.
